FAQ

What is the Healthcare Hackathon?
Hackers have 34 hours to build and pitch solutions to real healthcare problems.
Teams get hardware / software resources, mentors, food, & caffeine.

Who participates?
Everyone! Students, clinicians, engineers, biz folks, & designers.
Coming solo? We'll help you find a team.
Bringing friends? Max team size is 5. If you want to win, it helps
to have both business and clinical teammates.

What perks do we get?
We have dozens of expert clinicians, engineering faculty,
and industry professionals coming to help your team.
All attendees get a 10% discount for patent filings with IP SmartUp,
& $30 of course credit with General Assembly. This is a great opportunity to find
co-founders, collaborators, mentors, & jobs!

What do I bring to the Hackathon?
Bring: sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, clothes.
(you may go home whenever you want, but we suggest you stay and work)
Don’t need: a team, any medical experience, food or drink.

I'm not a doctor! What can I hack?
On Friday night, clinicians will pitch "pain points": unmet healthcare problems.
That night, you will join a team & choose a problem to hack at the event.

What can software hackers work with?
We are working with Validic & Iron Yard to provide you with
awesome APIs and support - so you can build great apps!

What can hardware hackers work with?
We have a ton of cool stuff: IV gear, a breathing circuit for a ventilator,
and electronic patient monitors!
Also, you will have access to the Invention Studio on Saturday.

How does intellectual property & liability work?
See our IP policy & liability form.
By registering & participating, you agree to this policy.
Be responsible with hardware and sharps.

Can I see the final pitches and keynote talks on Sunday?
Yes, Demo Day is free for everyone to attend.

What if I have more questions?
Email Kevin Olsen, our Hackathon Director.
